Day 2: Rouen
You quickly lose track of time in Normandy’s capital. But you’re reminded of it again by the 600-year-old ‘Big Clock’. This is one of the world’s oldest astronomical clocks and has just one hand – for the hour. The is much to explore, including the Musee des Beaux -Arts, the timber framed houses in Vieux Rouen or the beautiful Jardin de Plantes. Rouen has several names: ‘The Gothic City’ or ‘The City of 100 Bell Towers’. A visit to Rouen Cathedral explains why. This famous landmark is quite magnificent and has been painted by many famous artists in the past including Claude Monet.

Day 4: Caudebec-en-Caux
The small town is situated in one of the greenest regions of France. Here, you will also find flower-filled gardens that invite you to linger. In the town centre, historic buildings such as the church of Notre Dame or the Templar House reflect the history of Caudebec. More active travellers can take a guided cycle tour into the Normandy countryside, or perhaps take a trip to one of the many nearby monasteries including the spectacular ruins at Jumièges Abbey.
Day 5: Vernon
The pleasant, tranquil little town of Les Andelys occupies an idyllic spot surrounded by nature on the bank of the Seine. It is known for its castle, Château Gaillard. Although it is nothing more than a vast ruin nowadays, it’s easy to imagine Richard the Lionheart keeping watch here for the advance of the enemy – the French – through the Seine valley. Nowadays, Les Andelys is a peaceful, picturesque riverside village easy to explore from your ship.
Day 6: Vernon
Today will probably be one of the highlights of your Seine cruise: you’ll have the opportunity to visit Claude Monet’s house and garden in Giverny. It is a magnet for art and culture lovers and those of a romantic inclination – and rightly so. The lush garden looks like a wild field of flowers from an impressionist painting. You can walk across the enchanting pond of water lilies – the subject of one of the most valuable paintings in the world. Also worth exploring is Vernon's Gothic abbey church with stunningly colourful stained-glass windows. And nearby you can visit some of France's most famous attractions, including Château de Bizy. Here, you can revel in luxurious Renaissance décor and go for a delightful stroll around the elegant park.
Day 6: Mantes-la-Jolie
This is a place where history was made. Henry IV of France wooed his mistress Gabrielle d’Estrées here, and from then on Mantes became Mantes-la-Jolie – ‘Mantes the beautiful’. Located just 50 kilometres from Paris, the city lies directly on the bank of the Seine. Now you’ll have the opportunity to discover it for yourself during your Seine river cruise.
