Quasar Expeditions

With Quasar Expeditions, one of the most experienced names in Galapagos travel for over 27 years, you will encounter giant Galapagos tortoises, prehistoric marine iguanas and unique species of penguins, flightless cormorants and flamingos up-close and personal. Guided along your Galapagos cruise by the most experienced naturalists, guests feel like they are the first people to come across this natural paradise.

To compliment your Galapagos tour, you will be treated to special amenities and service found only on our distinctive yachts, offering boutique hotel service, while outfitted for true expeditions.

Our Galapagos yachts offer an unrivaled selection of exclusive options to the discerning traveler. They provide the highest standards of quality, safety and service of any yachts on the islands, yet they preserve the smaller boat atmosphere (our trademark). This allows for more privacy amongst our guests, more personalized attention, greater flexibility in activities and - most important - less impact on the environment.

One of the big highlights of a Galapagos cruise with Quasar Expeditions are the many opportunities for close encounters with wildlife. The islands and surrounding waters are quite literally teaming with exotic and colorful creatures that have never learned to fear humans. This translates into a series of daily peak experiences including tracking giant tortoises and trading stares with unconcerned marine iguanas. Bird life is also abundant, varied and fearless. You may have to give way as a blue footed booby crosses your path, or have the opportunity to observe a Galapagos hawk perched just a few steps away, as an albatross launches itself off a cliff on a journey that will encompass thousands of miles.

The best way to see Galapagos wildlife in these islands is on the walks and hikes that are scheduled each day on the different Islands. Every visit to each island involves an easy or an intermediate walk or hike, which last between 1 to 3 hours and are usually not strenuous at all. On these walks you will be led by one of our expert naturalists who will guide you along the clearly marked trails in each of the Islands and show you all the wonders of each of our carefully selected Visitor Sites.

The Galapagos Islands are a great year-round destination for a Galapagos cruise and there really is no "off-season" as opposed to many other wildlife sanctuaries around the world. However, the high season for tourism tends to be from mid-December to January and from June to August, which coincides with the general holidays and vacation months around the world.

For anyone interested in visiting the islands, there is really no better or worse time to visit. In part this is because the Galapagos Islands are right on the equator so that air and water temperatures do not vary much.
